In 2005, I began a process a lot like Abraham must have thousands of years ago. That is to say, I took the first step having no idea where I was going, really.
I released the now out of print "Lion's Tree" through SpiritSound Records and one year later "Fate of Foreigners" which I did independently. It has also been the most successful project I've ever created in music.
2011 brought "Big Green Mountain" about all things West Virginia (with a touch of Ireland thrown in). It was also during that year that I began collaborating with Jeff Branham and Laura Elder on music that was eventually released under the band name "Square Thirteen". It was primarily Appalachian music-originals and covers. In one form or another Square Thirteen has been going since then, and I imagine it will continue to, especially during the holiday season. (We will do our fifth annual Christmas Tour starting this November).
In January of 2018, I will be releasing "Celtic Ballads", a 5-song EP of my very favorite ballads from the old country. This project was inspired by my 16-day trip to Ireland last summer.
MEANWHILE I am writing like never before. I'm going to record and perform them solo on tour. But I'm not taking them to some of the typical larger venues I have historically. I want to take them to living rooms, pool patios, man caves and maybe the occasional fellowship hall. I want to do this until 10,000 FACES have stared into the soul of these songs. That's a lot of people if you think about it. But I'm anxious to meet you! Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you'd like to host one of these.
Thanks for all your continued support of my art. It is truly the only reason I get to keep making it.
